DioBytes Guidelines

We welcome submissions that have a connection to the ministry of the diocese and/or the approval of a diocesan department or commission. Inclusion of submissions is at the discretion of the editors.

  • Follow one of the three options below.
  • Entries should follow the house style guide.
  • Entries that do not conform to the options below and/or house style are subject to editing without consultation with the submitter.
  • We will publish your event in full once, then list it on the Diocesan Calendar and run it in the list of upcoming events in DioBytes from six weeks before until the event has passed.
  • We try to limit the length of DioBytes to 25 submissions. Priority is given based on when submissions are received.
  • The deadline for submission is Sunday, 5 p.m.; please email to diobytes@diocal.org.
  • Images have to have a resolution of 600 pixels or higher in width. When you submit an image, know it will be cropped to 16:9 horizontal and 600 pixels wide to conform to template style. If you want, you can crop and resize ahead of time. Otherwise our editor is happy to do so.
  • Image copyright: Do you have permission to use the image/photo you’re providing? It may be copyright infringement to use an image from the Internet. An image with a Creative Commons license  — there are several levels from least to most restrictive — may be considered for use. Creative Commons also searches websites, including Wikipedia Commons, Flickr, and Google, for CC licensed Images here: http://search.creativecommons.org/.
  • Minors in image. If there are people under the age of 18, do you have a release from their guardian to use their photo? Please indicate when you submit a photo with a minor from your congregation or ministry.

Note: DioBytes newsletter does not run the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s and on weeks where there is a Monday holidays, DioBytes will be published on Wednesday, please keep in mind when scheduling your submissions.
