Prayer

Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated unto you; and then use us, we pray you, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Book of Common Prayer: For Quiet Confidence

Common prayer is at the heart of our tradition and our life together as Episcopalians. The Book of Common Prayer (BCP) offers a form for The Daily Office (morning, noonday, evening prayer, and compline based on ancient monastic models) and also a simplified version especially designed for individual and family prayers. In addition, it includes prayers for all seasons, states of life, special occasions, and special intentions. The Episcopal Diocese of California invites you to explore the Online Book of Common Prayer and also this Online Daily Office based on the BCP.

There are a multitude of ways to pray, and many good resources to support deepening relationship with God through prayer. You might try the Pray as You Go daily podcast (which includes a Bible study) or d365, an ecumenical online daily prayer especially designed for young adults but useful to all. Or talk to your local rector or vicar, who will be happy to encourage your prayer practices.
