Clergy Retreat at Bishop's Ranch: Body, Mind, & Spirit

Monday, September 18, 2017, 4:00 pm to Wednesday, September 20, 2017, 1:30 pm

We look forward to seeing you at the Ranch!

This year Bishop Marc has invited 3 speakers to help us look holistically at the areas and interaction of Body, Mind and Spirit. In a sense, the entire retreat is about this as we come together to find some rest and possibly exercise for the body, thoughtful and engaging topics for the mind, and a chance to renew our spirits through prayer and reflection. Our speakers add an even deeper dimension.

BODY: Andrew Duffy is a Personal Trainer, Health Coach, and Fitness + Wellness Program Provider.

MIND: The Rev. Deborah White, PhD (Deb) is the Rector of Grace, Martinez. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Theatre and Dance, Master’s degrees in Divinity and Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Prior to becoming a clergy person, Deb worked extensively in the mental health field at a private psychiatric hospital, with chronically mentally ill people on the streets of Baltimore, in the California state prison system, for the Departments of Mental Health in Massachusetts and California, and as a forensic and neuropsychological expert witness.

SPIRIT: Liz Lawhead is a spiritual director and retreat leader on staff at the Mercy Center in Burlingame. Liz is working on her Masters in Pastoral Ministry with a focus in Spirituality, at Santa Clara University.

Fitting with our theme, we will have a movie on the lawn on Tuesday night with refreshments.  Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit under the stars and watch “Mrs. Judo”.

The retreat dress code is casual and comfortable, and we encourage you to bring swimming or other sports gear if you’d like to play outdoors during free time on Tuesday afternoon.

Check-in at the retreat will open at 4 p.m. on Monday, and will be located at the Graupner Room attached to Webb Lodge (see Ranch map). You may arrive earlier, but you will not be able to access bedrooms before then.

The Ranch has graciously made space available for colleague groups to meet on site before (Monday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) the retreat starts, but they ask that you reserve in advance. Please contact Amy,, 415-869-7825 if your colleague group would like to arrive early to meet on Monday.
