Contemplative Triduum Retreat

Thursday, March 29, 2018, 5:00 pm to Sunday, April 1, 2018, 12:00 pm

Please join Fr. Vincent Pizzuto, Ph.D. and the New Skellig Community at St. Columba’s Retreat House, Inverness, for a retreat centered around the celebration of the liturgies of the Triduum (Easter Weekend).  Our theme this year is Chaos: Both Ancient and Modern. In a world that many increasingly experience as chaotic, our retreat will offer a sustained reflection on the presence of Chaos in the cosmos, society, and the Christian spiritual life. As a force that is at once creative as it is destructive, how does the Paschal Mystery of Christ offer a way through Chaos, understanding its transformative power, without succumbing to it?

Because of power of the most central liturgies of our church year over the Triduum weekend, retreatants are invited to truly make the liturgy what it is intended to be— “the work of the people.” A synthesis of active participation in the liturgies, as well as group and personal reflection weave the Holy Days into a deep immersion of community building and contemplative reflection on the Paschal Mystery of Christ’s dying and rising.

The retreat begins on Thursday evening, March 29th, with formal check-in between 4-5pm, and a light supper at 5:30pm. The celebration of the Holy Thursday liturgy begins at 7pm. Retreatants are welcome to attend all of the liturgies for Good Friday, the Great Vigil of Holy Saturday, and our Easter Sunday Liturgy at 10am. All liturgical services are open to the public.

The weekend will offer time for liturgical celebration, communal faith sharing, silent reflection, trail hikes, and beach visits in the beautiful environs of Point Reyes National Seashore. The cost of the weekend including room & board are on a first-come-first-serve basis as follows:
