Fresher Start

Organized by the Congregational Ministries Working Group, Fresher Start is aprogram of the Diocese of California for newly ordained clergy as well as clergy new to cures within our Diocese. It is a time for making connections and meeting new colleagues, orientation to the Diocese, and ongoing formation for new ministry contexts.

Fresher Start, which will begin on October 11, 2018 this year, includes time with Bishop Marc leading us in worship and reflection each month as his travel schedule permits, peer learning, guest speakers, case studies, small group work, and book study. A detailed 2018-2019 schedule with topics will be provided at our first session in October.

This year, there will be 9 sessions between October and June, and the expectation is that you will attend at least 8 of them (understanding that you may miss a session for unavoidable personal or professional reasons). We know that everyone has full schedules; however, Fresher Start should be the first item on your calendar. The dates are listed below. We will also send a reminder email each month.

If you are not able to attend Fresher Start due to work commitments outside of your congregation, please be in touch with Canon Abbott Bailey, abbottb@diocal.org, as soon as possible.
