Clergy Position Opening
Position Title: Assistant Rector
Position Description: Work collaboratively with the Rector with a focus on being the pastor, priest, and teacher to our Spanish-speaking congregation.
Position Requirements:
Ordination or pending ordination to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church.Bilingual (English/Spanish); bi-cultural.
Ability to bridge both the Spanish and English-speaking communities at St. Michael & All Angels Church.
Ability to help our entire community grow spiritually, develop and support lay ministry, formation, and provide sacramental preparation for adults, children, and youth.
Must complete Diocesan SAFE Church training as soon as possible after employment begins.
Responsibilities:
1. Preside and preach at 1:00 Eucharist in Spanish. Preside and preach regularly in the morning services.
2. Plan liturgy, develop music ministry, provide pastoral care to the Latino community.
3. Provide pláticas for persons preparing for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage.
4. Develop leadership for youth program and activities.
5. Plan, organize, and develop leadership from within the community for Bible Study, Lenten programs, and other small group opportunities.
6. Meet with the vestry regularly.
7. Help plan and execute bilingual liturgies, especially for Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and Christmas.
8. Help the Latino community develop a stronger presence at St. Michael & All Angels.
9. Participate in strategic ministry development to expand bi-cultural ministry in the area.
10. Look for ways to engage the Latino community in stewardship.
Compensation:
This position is a full-time position that includes a housing allowance, pension premiums, medical and dental insurance, mileage allowance, expense account, continuing education allowance, and discretionary fund provided per Section 5.2 of the Diocesan Operations Manual.
