Canon Pastor, the American Cathedral in Paris
The Episcopal Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (aka The American Cathedral in Paris) is looking for a Canon Pastor, who will serve as senior associate to the Dean. We are looking for a priest with outstanding interpersonal skills, a deep faith, the heart of a pastor, an instinct for collaboration, and a passion for excellence in liturgy and preaching.
We are an historic parish that also serves as the Pro-Cathedral for the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe. We are an urban parish with a dynamic international congregation in an exciting cross-cultural context. With an average Sunday attendance of 350, a budget of $1.3 million, and 250 pledging units (average pledge $2,200), it is a healthy resource parish. Over the past 6 years, pledged income has risen dramatically (an increase of over 80%) and almost $7 million in capital funds have been raised for the enhancement of our program and office spaces. The parish staff of 11 includes 2 FT and 1 PT clergy. To learn more about us, visit our website at www.americancathedral.org
The Canon Pastor will work closely with the Cathedral’s Dean and Rector. The responsibilities of ministry are shared. The clergy work in partnership with a highly educated, motivated and empowered corps of lay leaders. The Canon Pastor will be expected to participate fully in the liturgical, pastoral, and program life of the congregation. All candidates should be open to remaining in the position 3-5 years.
Specific responsibilities ultimately will be based on the gifts and experience of the individual priest. The successful candidate must possess a passion for the joys and challenges of cross-cultural living and should have a good command of French, or a strong aptitude and desire to learn French.
Compensation is negotiable. Fully furnished housing appropriate to accommodate a maximum of 2 adults will be provided. Anticipated starting date: September 1 – October 1, 2010.
