Concern and prayers for Asiana 214 crash

Around 11:30 a.m. today, a flight at San Francisco Internatoinal Airport crashed after its tail came off during touchdown. KTVU News has updated information as it is available. The Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus, bishop of California, said, “We here in the Bay Area are united in our hopes and prayers for the crew and passengers of the Asiana Air flight that crashed during its landing at San Francisco International Airport this morning (July 6, 2013). We also hold in our prayers first responders and the Bay Area medical personnel who will be caring for those injured. We pray for family and friends of those who were aboard the flight.”

Bishop Andrus also offered this prayer and asked all people of faith to keep those affected by this crash in their prayers.

Loving God, source, guide and goal of life, we pray your comfort and protection for all those aboard Asiana 214, and for the firefighters and emergency personnel who are responding to this emergency. Be with our medical personnel who will care for the injured in the hours and days to come. Comfort and sustain the families and friends of those who were aboard the flight. Help them and us to know and feel that bidden or unbidden you are always with us, and that the fall of no life on Earth is apart from your loving presence. Amen.
