December ordinations and reception

Over 500 people gathered on Saturday, December 1, for the ordination of seven men and women to the priesthood and diaconate and the reception of a priest from another communion. Earlier in the day Bishop Andrus spoke to the clergy of the diocese about his growing understanding of ordered ministry, and over 100 clergy stayed from that talk to participate in the ordination. The new deacons are Jane Stratford, Bonnie Stewart, and Dorothy (Doe) Yates. The new priests are Jude Harmon, Greg Brown, Joseph Mathews, and Kevin Sparrow. Joseph Delgado was received from the Roman Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Philip M. Duncan, II, bishop of the Central Gulf Coast, was the homilist for the occasion.
