Diocesan Confirmation retreat: I will with God’s help

St. Dorothy’s Rest welcomed sixteen youth from All Souls, Berkeley; St. James, Oakland; St. Matthew’s, San Mateo; and St. Paul’s, Burlingame, for the fourth annual diocesan Confirmation retreat the weekend of Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8. A great group of kids ranging from sixth to twelfth grades explored the baptismal promises through their ideas of Jesus, the Kingdom of God, and sin and repentance as well as experiencing an instructed Eucharist led by the Rev. Lindsay Hills and the Rev. Martha Korienek.

During the afternoon they were also invited to experience the sacrament of reconciliation via the penitential rite of the Book of Common Prayer, and on Saturday evening each chose a favorite psalm to share with the group. With all this deep reflection, there was also time for art, ping-pong, hiking through the redwoods, singing, and lots and lots of laughter.

Much gratitude is offered to the adult leaders in addition to the Rev. Hills and the Rev. Korienek — Maggie Foster, Logan Rimel, Ethan Lowery, Aaron McCray-Goldsmith, and Isabel Sanchez — and all those who worked to make this opportunity possible for their community’s youth through providing transportation, helping with registration, and getting their young people fully signed up. Prayers continue for the spiritual journeys of all who came together for this special weekend.
