Music for Haiti this weekend

Les Petits Chanteurs boys choirFollowing the devastating earthquake of January 12, 2010, the Episcopal Diocese of California has been invited to work in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti to rebuild Holy Trinity Music School in Port-au-Prince. Currently 5,000 Haitian children are educated by the Episcopal Church in the nation’s capital, with 1,000 of these receiving advanced music training.

The first phase of this partnership is the arrival of 41 students, teachers, and chaperones from the school this Wednesday, September 28. While in our diocese this group will perform four public concerts, sing a Sunday morning service, spend two days in residence at Episcopal schools, and enjoy the hospitality of Bishop’s Ranch and nearly one hundred host families.

Each performance will include music from Les Petits Chanteurs — the Boys’ Choir — and an instrumental chamber ensemble from the school. Please invite your congregations, neighbors, and friends to come and hear these remarkable young musicians, who continue to practice and perform music at the highest standard even in the midst of earthquake rubble.
