The Episcopal Diocese of California seeks an organized, creative, and energetic Communications Associate. This position is a member of a two-person team that supports a large network of congregations, schools, and other organizations and requires the ability to work closely with others on frequently tight schedules. The Diocese of California is an equal opportunity employer and encourages women and people of color to consider this position. The communications associate will be supervised by the communications working group head, with close collaboration from the bishop, other working group heads, and members of staff.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Graphic and layout design of posters, postcards, fliers, reports, booklets, etc.

• Assembling and launching weekly email blasts

• Streamlining diverse communications needs while maintaining consistency of branding

• Proofreading for style and grammar

• Event support, both using print materials and online/social media platforms. Even materials include forms, online registration, materials pages, and on-site support (live-stream event, photography)

• Regularly updating all DioCal social media

• Shared management of Drupal-based clergy and congregation databases

• Traveling with the Communication Working Group Head to congregations for onsite communications consulting sessions

• General office support and other duties as assigned

• Advising coworkers and congregations on technical and design issues

related to various communications platforms

Essential skills and qualifications:

• Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud

• Comfortable using MailChimp and Later.com

• Familiarity with content management systems

• Excellent project management skills

• Ability to manage workflow and human resource issues

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to Google and research how-to with websites or programs

• Marketing familiarity / background a plus

• Comfortable using Mac’s OS X operating system

• Familiarity with the Episcopal Church is a plus

• All MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Development / fundraising familiarity a plus
