History
The Diocese of California was organized in 1850. Originally the Diocese of California covered all of the state of California. Other dioceses have split off as follows:
Northern California — 1874
Los Angeles — 1895
San Joaquin — 1910
El Camino Real — 1980

These records are held by the churches in which the events occurred. Contact the church directly to ask for copies of your records. You can find churches either using our Find a Church page or scrolling through the list on All Congregations page. If the church has closed, the diocese holds the records.
