Opening Reception September 5, 2024, 5-7pm

For American Prayer, Lucas Foglia traveled throughout the United States to attend religious and spiritual rituals in nature. The people he photographed share the belief that nature is both our salvation and our responsibility. This exhibit is a collaboration between Foglia, the PLTS Center for Climate Justice and Faith, and the GTU Center for the Arts and Religion. Visitors to the gallery will have opportunities to participate in local advocacy, register to vote, and get involved with Bay Area organizations addressing the climate crisis.

A 2024 Guggenheim Fellow, Foglia’s projects about people in nature have been exhibited at Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam, High Museum of Art, International Center of Photography, Les Rencontres d’Arles, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Philadelphia Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and many others
