Coastside Community Christmas Carol Sing

Description

Coastside Community Christmas Carol Sing

An annual event until the pandemic, the carol sing is a tradition in which the choirs of Coastside churches gather for an evening of singing traditional Christmas music.

Coastside churches take turns hosting the event. This year it’s Holy Family Episcopal Church’s turn. The coordinating minister is the Rev. Eric Nefstead (longtime supply priest), who will begin the evening with a greeting and invocation. Because Holy Family’s facilities are small, the event will be at Coastside Lutheran Church at 900 Cabrillo Hwy N in Half Moon Bay.

Many church choirs have not regrouped in the Covid aftermath, so this year’s Sing will feature a community pop-up choir that will prepare two carols in advance. The rest of the carols will be sung by those in the audience. The choir will be directed by John Lehrack, CLC’s music director. Nefstead will accompany the carols on piano. A string quartet will also accompany some of the carols.

The evening also will include Bible readings retelling the story of Christ’s birth read by various Coastside pastors.

Refreshments will be served immediately following the event.
