Camps and Retreat Centers

The Diocese of California is blessed with three outstanding retreat facilities: The Bishop’s Ranch, St. Columba’s Inverness (Retreat House), and St. Dorothy’s Rest. All three facilities accommodate individual or group retreats throughout the year. 

For youth, attending a church camp is one of the most important and memorable ways to experience relationship with God through community, fun, and the beauty of creation. The Bishop’s Ranch is a retreat and conference center nestled among the forests, farms and vineyards of Sonoma County, outside the town of Healdsburg. Owned by the Episcopal Diocese of California, The Bishop’s Ranch provides a variety of meeting facilities, comfortable lodging, wholesome meals and recreational activities for non-profit, religious and educational groups of all ages. This unique gathering place can host events lasting one or more days depending on the needs of the group.  Overnight accommodations are available to groups of up to 100 people. Groups of up to 150 will find a comfortable space to meet.

High quality meals are lovingly prepared and served by a talented kitchen staff who utilize the freshest ingredients possible.  Vegetarian and special diets can be accommodated.  Guests dine buffet style in a large dining room that offers breathtaking views of Mt. St. Helena and the Russian River Valley.

St. Columba’s Inverness Mission is a historic Episcopal Church. They run a retreat house for both priviate and and group retreats that can accommodate up to 32 guests. Their space inclues a meditation path, library featuring the largest Thomas Merton collection on the West Cost, an outdoor summer amphitheater, and LOTS of rustic charm.

The retreat house occupies a four-floor summerhouse mansion built in 1930, in the small town of Inverness on the Point Reyes Peninsula nestled in the forested hills overlooking Tomales Bay. Additionally it features a full kitchen, dining and meeting areas, and private, semi-private, and dorm-style rooms for overnight lodging. Enclosed among the wooded hills is an outdoor Stations of the Cross and an outdoor Chapel with stone cross. Complementing the rustic feel of the retreat house is the open-beam sanctuary and adjacent chapel.

St. Dorothy’s invites children, youth, and adults – wherever they may be on their spiritual journeys – to experience and explore God’s creation through summer camps and retreats.

Warm hospitality, acres upon acres of reclaimed redwood forest, and a pace that is altogether different than everyday life allow visitors to care for their most important relationships: themselves, their loved ones, their God, and creation. This is a place to truly “Get a way.”
