Award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future to screen at St. Paul’s, Walnut Creek

Saturday, September 21, 2019, 3:30 pm

St. Paul’s is hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m., immediately following the Community Climate Rally & Environmental Action Fair in Civic Park.

Wilder than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of these fires.

The screening at St. Paul’s church is part of the Season of Creation, and a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfire. A discussion will follow the screening, with the film’s writer/producer Stephen Most.

St. Paul’s, a member of Interfaith Climate Action Network, recognizes the importance of building community awareness about mitigation strategies in this new age of wildfire.

Interfaith Climate Action Network of Contra Costa County is a working group of California Interfaith Power and Light, with more than 100 members in the East Bay.

This network of faith communities across California commits to taking steps to fight climate change, work for environmental justice, and support a just transition to a clean energy future, regenerating Earth and building a sustainable world.
