Union of Black Episcopalians and the Afro Anglican Commission

Pre-Diocesan Convention Session on

Black Voices – Truth Telling and Transformation

October 15th 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Session Abstract

On the evening of October 15th, the Afro Anglican Commission of this Diocese and the Northern California Vivian Traylor Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians plan to shed some light on how, we as Black people, are feeling about the injustice, brokenness and divisions in our society and our church and how we can begin the process of healing.  By engaging in discussions and reflections about the Church’s past and some truth telling and lament, we hope to start the long-term work towards racial healing and transformation. This is just one leg of the marathon of work needed to reach that goal.  Our hope is that at the end of this time of sharing, listening and discussion, we will all be closer to what we profess in our baptismal vows and core to us Becoming Beloved Community – to seek and serve all persons, loving our neighbors as ourselves.  To strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being.
