Founded in San Francisco in 1978, Chanticleer is known around the world as ‘“an orchestra of voices” for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature from Renaissance to jazz and from gospel to venturesome new music. Chanticleer, along with The New Century Chamber Symphony and the San Francisco Lyric Chorus, is now headquartered at the historic Trinity Episcopal Church which was built in 1894. The church, which boasts a beautiful cathedral-like interior with outstanding acoustics and a 1924 E.M. Skinner symphonic pipe organ, has recently created the Trinity Center for the Arts to open its space for artistic performances and exhibitions.
