Cultivating Spiritual Sustainability: California, Paris, Marrakech, and You — Epiphany reflection day with Bishop Marc at The Bishop’s Ranch

Saturday, January 7, 2017, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm

In this day-long retreat Bishop Marc Andrus will lead us in exploring the concept of spiritual sustainability — the intrapersonal dimensions of climate change. The shape and quality of our actions is based entirely on the spiritual values we hold.

Beginning with the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris and again in 2016 in Marrakech, the Episcopal Church delegation held daily services of chant, meditation, and prayer. Each day the service focused on one spiritual value; in Paris the values were reverence, compassion, forgiveness, and reconciliation. In Marrakech the values were courage, honesty, sorrow, and interbeing.

In this retreat we will look at these spiritual values and create our own prayer cards after considering the question: how does this value support the sustainability of my life, my relationships, my commitments, and my content of life? Our hope upon returning home is we will be better able to make conscious choices and continue to reflect on how these spiritual values influence our lives. Click here to register.
