Indigenous People’s Day

Monday, October 18, 2021 (All day)

How is your faith community commemorating this day? While there are various events around the Bay area, consider these options:

If you don’t already have one, please consider posting a land acknowledgment on your church’s website. Click here for an indigenous land acknowledgement map. Here is a resource on Five Steps to Writing a Land Acknowledgment.
Consider contributing a voluntary land tax as a church or individual to Sogorea Te' Land Trust, an urban Indigenous women-led land trust that facilitates the return of Indigenous land to Indigenous people in the Bay Area.
Watch the webinar Native Voices: A Response to The Episcopal Church’s History with Indian Boarding Schools, Monday, Oct. 11, 2:00 – 3:30 PM Pacific. Join this panel discussion with Indigenous Episcopalians as they respond to a statement on Indigenous boarding schools issued by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and House of Deputies President Gay Jennings. A moderated Q&A will follow the panel.  The livestream webinar will be recorded and posted on the Indigenous Ministries Facebook page for later viewing.  Learn more about the Indigenous Ministries of the Episcopal Church by clicking here.
