St Stephen’s Church, Belvedere, CA ( is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Dimmock as Minister of Music effective September 29, 2021. He has also served three American cathedrals: St John the Divine (NYC), St Mark’s (Minneapolis), and Grace (SF). Featured on more than 50 CD recordings, he performs regularly with the San Francisco Symphony including being part of their Grammy Award-winning performance of Mahler’s Symphony 8. Jonathan ( leads a very multi-faceted life, active as a performer, teacher, speaker, blog writer, spiritual director, mind-body specialist, chef, yogi, hiker, and non-profit founder. His fifth nonprofit, The Resonance Project, synthesizes the latest research of neuroscientists with that of musicians, as it seeks to use live music in international conflict resolution. (Jonathan has been heralded by President Obama for this visionary endeavor.)

Speaking of his appointment to St Stephen’s, Jonathan said: “St Stephen’s is poised with tremendous opportunity at what I believe will prove to be one of history’s fulcrum points. With its vast resources of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, I am excited to be part of this community as it seeks to shape the future, and not just the religious institutions around us, but our very awareness of the connections between spirit and music, between beauty and the Divine.”

The Rector of St Stephen’s, the Rev’d Phillip Ellsworth, Jr said: “I am delighted and grateful that Jonathan has accepted this appointment. This search was international; it attracted the applications of outstanding musicians from San Francisco to Canterbury. Jonathan and I share a commitment to the parish’s growth into the life of Christ, the Body of Christ, as it is expressed and strengthened through music in the unsurpassably beautiful Anglican choral tradition. He will take an active part in education, his own and that of others, in pastoral relationships and formation, and in the highest possible artistic statement to the glory of God.”
