Three Choirs Festival West

Saturday, May 18, 2019 (All day) to Sunday, May 19, 2019 (All day)
All are invited to the first annual Three Choirs Festival West including the choirs of Trinity Cathedral, Portland, Oregon; Grace Cathedral, San Francisco; and St. Paul’s, Burlingame singing services of Evensong and Choral Eucharist at St. Paul’s, Burlingame and Grace Cathedral, San Francisco on May 18 and 19. We are inspired to recreate the English tradition of the Three Choirs Festival for the west coast of the United States.
 
On Saturday, May 18,  60 singers (K-adult) of the choirs will offer a 5 p.m. Evensong at St. Paul’s, Burlingame. Choral repertoire includes: David Goodenough | I will sing with the spirit; Herbert Howells | Magnificat & Nunc dimittis (Collegium Regale); S. S. Wesley | Blessed be the God and Father; Bernard Rose | Responses. This Saturday 5 p.m. Evensong at St. Paul’s, Burlingame is followed by a Celebration Dinner.
 
On Sunday, May 19, 85 singers of the choirs (grade 3 - adult) will sing the 11 a.m. Choral Eucharist at Grace Cathedral. Choral repertoire includes: Hildegard von Bingen | Chant; Jean Langlais | Messe Solennelle; Edgar Bainton | And I saw a new heaven; arr. Alice Parker & Robert Shaw | Wondrous love. A 3 p.m. Choral Evensong at Grace that afternoon will include the same repertoire as the 5 p.m. Saturday Evensong at St. Paul’s, Burlingame.
