We Shall Not Be Moved: Songs and Stories of Civil Rights

Saturday, December 4, 2021, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

There are many poets and prophets in American Civil Rights history - from James Baldwin to Zora Neale Hurston to Fannie Lou Hamer and Langston Hughes.  What do their stories teach us?  What do their songs teach us?  How can we move towards what Dr. King called the "Beloved Community?"  This interactive, singing workshop will lift up the prophetic musical and poetic tradition of the Civil Rights movement to remind us of our courage, our common humanity, and how to keep the movement alive. Come with an open heart for singing and cross-cultural dialogue!  Hosted by Benjamin Mertz.
