Stations of the Cosmic Christ, a new book by Matthew Fox and Bishop Marc Andrus

Posted on October 2, 2018

Introducing new ecumenical prayers and spiritual practices, Matthew Fox and Bishop Marc Andrus reflect on 16 unique and thought-provoking sculptures as a guide through the transformation necessary to know ourselves as other Christs. The Cosmic Christ is the image of God shining in every creature and every human being.

Western Christianity has been practicing for centuries the devotion of the Stations of the Cross, but the tradition by no means presents a full or accurate remembrance of Jesus’ experience, they write.

This book brings balance by including some of the richest teachings and breakthroughs of Jesus and his immediate followers in the early Christ community and by embedding them into contemporary practice and culture.

Stations of the Cosmic Christ includes photographs of an important set of sculptures of the 16 stations, created by two artists — the late poet, potter, and essayist M.C. Richards and contemporary South American artist Ullrrich Javier Lemus.

Fox and Andrus say: “Time is running out for our species. Religion needs to wake up, and to assist all of us to wake up. We hope this book and the practices it launches serve that process. We are on a journey to discover and give birth to the Christ in ourselves—the most loving, joyful, justice-committed, courageous, generous, caring, and compassionate parts of ourselves."

“Christ is in all of us: that is what the Cosmic Christ teaching is telling us. Christ is the best in all of us. The Buddha in us. The God-self in us. The image of God in us.”

Stations of the Cosmic Christ is published by Unity Books. Illustrations and photographs by M.C. Richards and Ullrrich Javier Lemus. The softcover book is 214 pages, with a cover price of $24.95.  ISBN:  978-0-87159-380-1.  It is available through Unity Books, and distributors DeVorss, New Leaf and Ingram. “Stations of the Cosmic Christ Meditation Cards” will also be available for $14.95.
