Update on Regathering Plans: : Outdoor worship allowed beginning Sunday, August 2

Posted on July 23, 2020

We are pleased to share that Bishop Marc is authorizing outdoor, in-person gatherings beginning Sunday, August 2, 2020, subject to the conditions below for those congregations that have a) submitted a regathering plan that includes outdoor worship; b) have had a conversation with one of our COVID-19 team members; and c) have received an email indicating that they are approved to proceed (emails will be sent next week between July 27 and July 29). These are the conditions:

Outdoor services are allowed for up to 25 people in counties where that number is currently allowed: (Alameda and the City of Berkeley, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, and San Mateo).

If your county’s outdoor worship guidelines call for smaller gatherings, you must adhere to those restrictions (in San Francisco, the maximum is 12).

All other current safety protocols and guidelines (maintaining a 6-foot distance, wearing masks, etc.) must be followed. The current diocesan worship gathering guidelines can be found here.

Please continue to monitor your county’s health department guidelines, as they are subject to change.

NOTE: If you would like to proceed with outdoor worship and have submitted a plan, but have not yet spoken with a team member, please email Abbott as soon as possible so we can begin the review. If you have not yet submitted a plan that includes outdoor worship and would like to begin outdoor worship, please do so and we will begin the review process. In both these instances, please plan on a later start-date than August 2. Thank you for your patience.
