Update: St. Dorothy's Rest Summer Camp 2020

Posted on May 5, 2020. Updated on May 5, 2020

St. Dorothy’s Rest, in conversation with our partner agencies and the Sonoma County Department of Health, has made the decision to forgo summer camp operations for 2020 in response to concerns in and around potential COVID-19 exposure and transmission. The health and safety of our camp community is of the highest priority. This decision was not made lightly, nor did it come easily. We believe this is the safest, most responsible decision in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have registered a camper and made a deposit or paid for camp in full, we are offering full refunds and will process reimbursements in the next few weeks.

We grieve the loss of camp this summer with you and are working on ways we can stay connected with one another throughout the summer. Knowing that this announcement will come as a disappointment to many, we are in the process of designing a series of virtual camp experiences throughout this summer, at no cost to participants. We know it will not be the same as getting to be together at St. Dorothy’s Rest but want to provide the opportunity and space to gather together, see old friends and summer camp staff, and share in the unique aspects of our camp program. Events will include a virtual campfire, evening gathering and the St. Dorothy’s Rest ritual.

Since 1901, St. Dorothy’s Rest has been a place where many have experienced the joys of summer camp. This summer we hope you join us virtually as we lean into what summer camp is in this new context. Please reach out if there are additional or specific ways the we can support you.

“This is goodnight and not goodbye.”

In Faith, Hope, Love & Luck,

Katie Evenbeck, Executive Director
