The Children’s Minister, under the supervision of the Rector, is responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating a Christian education program (Sunday school) for school age children, a weekly Preschool Chapel service, as well as social/recreational opportunities for families with young children. The children’s program serves families from St. James Church and Preschool, and the wider community, and operates in collaboration with events, camps, and conferences sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of California.

The Children’s Minister oversees the Sunday school program (September – June), including recruiting, scheduling and supporting volunteer teachers. He or she also serves as Preschool Chaplain by providing a weekly 20-minute chapel service (September – May). The Children’s Minister meets twice monthly with the Rector for supervision and planning.

Hours are approximately 10 hours per week, September through June. Compensation is $25/hour or approximately $11,000 per year. Please email cover letter, resume and 3 references to the Rev. John Kirkley at john@stjamessf.org.
