Whole and Healthy Church

The Diocese of California has updated our official policy on standards and behaviors to ensure that our congregations are safe places for all God's people. Our new policies are centered around protecting bodies and souls, hearts and minds.

Whole & Healthy Church is a comprehensive policy of guidelines and procedures that enables everyone in the diocese to proactively work in a way that can protect our beloved community.

As we roll out these new policies in 2019, it is expected that all clergy canonically resident within the Diocese of California will receive, read, and understand the Whole & Healthy Church Policies and Procedures. PDFs of the policies are available below, as are copies of the acknowledgement letter. All clergy must return their signed letter to the Diocesan Office before Diocesan Convention on October 25, 2019.

While our goal was to write policies that could cover as wide an audience as possible, we understand the impracticality of that task. Therefore, each congregation is encouraged to adapt these policies in writing as best fits their local context. Caren Miles, the Whole & Healthy Church Coordinator is available for consultation and assistance with this work.
